Hawthorne House of Newport, is located within one of Newport’s most beautiful residential neighborhoods, conveniently close to parks and a family-friendly beach. Your privacy is assured as we accept only one booking at a time - in other words, you are our only guests. Enjoy your private deck and gas grill, a large, lovely yard, a private entrance, and off-street parking.
Stay for a weekend – or stay longer! This suite is perfectly-sized for a get-away weekend – or for a restful extended week or even two. We have often welcomed families with children (of all ages), couples, or friends for both short and longer-term stays.
Tastefully furnished and equipped, the suite also includes a generously-supplied kitchenette, Wi-Fi throughout, cable, flat-screen TVs, A/C, a queen bedroom, and a separate living/dining room with a queen sleeper sofa. A pack ‘n play is available for your little one. The bath is accessed from your hallway between the living room and bedroom. We also provide beach chairs, beach towels, a kiddie pool, and more.
Although nestled in a quiet residential area, you’ll appreciate the easy access to Newport's downtown dining and shopping, as well as the famous mansions, Cliff Walk, and nightlife! There is a dog-friendly city park across the street – and Gooseberry Beach is just 1/2 mile away at the end of Carroll Avenue.
We are happy to welcome children. They will be delighted to find a large backyard perfect for running and playing. This home is accessible for most wheelchairs - please ask us for specifics. Well-behaved dogs allowed - please ask for our 'Pet Policy'.
PLEASE NOTE: Hawthorne House is NOT a “whole house” rental despite the advertising claims of some of the major listing sites. The City of Newport’s ordinances require private homes to be owner-occupied for short-term rentals in residential zones (R10 thru R40). That said, our suite is located in its own wing of the house (just off the main foyer). Thus, it is private from the rest of the home - allowing guests to stay separated and private. Essentially, it isn’t any different from the privacy of a condo unit or a hotel suite - you are never sharing your suite with others.
Amenities You Will Enjoy
Access to the suite is through the front door and main foyer of the home. The suite’s layout includes a queen bedroom with a six-foot closet and direct access to a private deck. The combination living/dining area includes a comfortable queen sofa and a nicely appointed kitchenette with a microwave, toaster, coffee-maker, and fridge/freezer. You will also find fresh fruit, delicious cookies, cereals, bottled water and a variety of other beverages — and home-baked banana bread — all pre-stocked for your enjoyment.
The back deck is nicely furnished and also includes a gas grill with side burner and access to a spacious yard for the children to run and play. Other thoughtful conveniences include wi-fi Internet and beach chairs/beach towels, and off-street parking. The living room and bedroom both have flat screen televisions with cable.
Located in a residential area known as the “Fifth Ward”, it is an easy walk to the shopping and dining spots in downtown Newport, a nearby dog-friendly park on Ruggles Avenue, and a family beach at the bottom of Carroll Avenue. Oh, did we mention your helpful hosts? Feel free to ask us for shopping, dining, or sightseeing suggestions. As native Newporters, we are well acquainted with our famous hometown and its surrounding areas.
THE FINE PRINT: We do not charge a cleaning fee, a parking fee, an Internet fee, a merchant fee, or a booking fee (always book direct for the best rates). We do not charge a fee for children. Maximum occupancy is four (4) human beings. Pre-approved pets are considered. No smoking/vaping indoors, no parties/events. Minimum stay is 2 nights.
The year 2023 marks our 28th year in business as a properly registered, inspected, and insured short-term rental — with more than 170 5-star reviews on various consumer/travel websites.
Wheelchair / Other Mobility Needs: For most guests with mobility needs (walkers, canes, standard-sized manual wheelchairs, etc.) or for those who can easily stand and pivot to transfer, this suite should prove accommodating. May not be suitable for power wheelchair users — please call us for specifics. We are, of course, happy to move (or remove) furnishings or scatter rugs as per your requirements.
